The coloring of this paint in the trees with the sunlight falling on her was so striking to me I wanted to portray it in my drawing.

Mustang Motherhood

Mustang Motherhood

This mustang mare and her foal came to a waterhole to drink out in the wild.  It’s so rare to find a calm, quiet moment together like this and I wanted to preserve it.  If anything disturbs that quiet, they’ll both be off like a shot.

Is That a Snake?

Is That a Snake?

This is another Corgi puppy named Jake at 6 weeks.  He is a half brother to Jag.  His ability to concentrate and focus on what he’s looking at has just gotten better as he aged.  His ears also came up at 7 weeks but his legs will always stay short.

Lunch Time

Lunch Time

This newborn foal stopped for a bite to eat and mama took advantage while she was still to grab some good grass at the same time.  A quiet moment that satisfies both of them.

Where’s Mom

Where’s Mom

This new foal had just taken off running around his pasture, feeling exuberant and playful.  All of a sudden he stopped, looking around for his mother and catching his breath.  You can see the moisture on his coat from his perspiration.

Watching The Rain

Watching The Rain

The rain had been falling for 4 days and everything outside was wet and muddy.  Belle looked out from her stall deep in contemplation.  I don’t know what she was thinking but I could imagine and people looking at this image could imaging too.

You Talkin’ Ta Me

You Talkin’ Ta Me

This Corgi puppy named Jag is 6 weeks old and had such character and an appealing personality that I wanted to show him with his ears down.  At the age of around 7 weeks, these puppies’ ears go up and stay up (sometimes with a little encouragement).

Shiloh

Shiloh

This is another commission for a friend at my barn.  She wanted a picture to put on her wall so that she could see her special companion even when she was away from the barn.  Both horse and owner have sweet natures, as I think you can tell from the drawing.

Sans Souci

Sans Souci

This Arabian colt was a 2-year-old when I first saw him. He’s a chestnut with flaxen mane and tail and his carriage was true Arabian. I was taken with his air of command and joie de vivre and hoped it came through in my drawing.

Royalty

Royalty

This Peruvian Paso stallion had such a regal bearing with his fancy tack on that the name came easily.  He’s a proud representative of his breed.
